UCPS Communications Office wins nine state Blue Ribbon awards
The Union County Public Schools Communications Office has received nine North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) awards of excellence, recognizing outstanding school public relations publications across the state.
The Blue Ribbon awards are the highest awards given by the state association for excellence in communication.
The team received awards for excellence in Electronic Media, in Special Purpose Publications, for the "Inside News" Employee Newsletter, for the quality of the UCPS web site, two awards for Excellence in Writing, and three awards for Excellence in Photography.
This isn’t the first year they have been recognized on a state and national level. In the past four years, the Communications Office has earned more than 40 state and national Blue Ribbon Awards.
UCPS Chief Communications Officer Rob Jackson said handling the communications for more than 5,000 employees and the families of approximately 42,000 students is no easy task.
“The department keeps moving forward in its efforts to utilize social media and video,” he said. “This week, for example, the UCPS Communications Office has launched our weekly video news for the community.”
The Communications staff was recognized Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2014) by the Union County Board of Education for the winning the Blue Ribbon awards.
“We appreciate your efforts in keeping the UCPS employees and our community at large informed about this great school system,” said UCPS Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellis.
