Marshville Ball Handling Club Performs at Wingate
On Saturday January 25th the Marshville Elementary Basketball Club performed at halftime of the Wingate University vs. Brevard University Women's basketball game. The basketball club is a 10 week program that is offered to our fourth and fifth grade students. The fourth grade group meets during the first semester while the fifth grade team trains during the second semester.
In late January twenty two MES students entertained the crowd at Cuddy arena on the campus of Wingate University. Skills such as around the world, one leg circle, scissors, figure eight, and spider dribble kept the audience engaged. The big crowd pleaser happened when the MES students took to the floor, literally, and sat down on the court dribbling the ball behind their back and under their legs. To bring the show to an end the grand finale of ferris wheel and finger spin (and in a true show of cross curricular integration one student even spun the ball on a number 2 pencil !) had the Wingate fans clapping and cheering. A big thanks goes out to Wingate University for offering our students the chance to showcase their talents and to our basketball club members we say "We are proud of you!"
