Weddington High School FFA Chapter Celebrates National FFA Week
The Weddington High School FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week, February 15-22. This year’s theme is Ignite and it embraces more than 80 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future.
More than half a million members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels. These members have a passion for agriculture.
Designated as National FFA Week in 1947, the week of George Washington’s birthday is FFA Week, and runs from Saturday to Saturday. FFA Week gives FFA members an opportunity to educate the public about agriculture.
During the week, chapters conduct a variety of activities to help others in their school and community learn about FFA and agricultural education. Weddington High FFA will celebrate National FFA Week by participating in the exciting activities during the week.
Monday is College Day! Tuesday is Twin Day! Wednesday is Chapter T-Shirt Day! Thursday is Blue & Gold Day! Our Chapter Meeting will be held after school. The FFA Officers will also serve our Faculty and Staff a delicious breakfast. Friday is Camo Day! FFA members will be honored at a luncheon on Friday as well.
To finish out FFA Week, we will be at the Tractor Supply in Monroe on Saturday, February 22nd from 10:00-2:00 to raise money for our Region Rally Service Project.
On May 1st, our FFA chapter will attend the annual Region Rally. While at Region Rally, FFA Chapters from across the state will participate in a huge service project. Our service project involves preparing and packaging 10,000 meals to send to disaster areas.
Today’s FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural and hands-on learning, they are preparing for more than 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.
National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 579,678 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,570 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
