First Graders Learn Strings
The sound of beautiful string music permeated the halls of BHESA this past Tuesday as our first grade students began an introduction to strings in their classes on Feb. 18, 2014.
All students had a mini-lesson taught by our strings instructor Ms. Beth Joy Fowler and will be playing cherub boxes with student bows to learn the proper technique for holding the instrument and playing it. All students will study the suzuki method of learning rhythms through speech and rote patterns.
At the end of this year, they will be invited to join our stings program for the 2014-2015 academic year which currently serves 24 students in Strings I , II & III. BHESA just received two grants to support our strings program as we move forward. Some of our former students who have been in our programs now play with the Union Youth Symphony. We are proud of our First graders who will be our future Tiger String players.
