Second Graders Enjoy Fairy Tales and Folk Tales!
Second grade has been studying fairy tales and folk tales for reading and writing. In correlation with the literacy standards, and incorporating arts, they traveled to downtown Matthews to see The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales! They had such a fun time seeing all of the different versions of the classic fairy and folk tales that they have studied in class.
Once they got back from the wonderfully silly performance they wrote using paragraph form about their favorite parts. The students loved the hilarious adaptive fairy tales! They enjoyed how Jon Scieszka put his own spin on the classic versions; just like they are doing in their writing.
