MHS Video Production and Broadcasting Classes Participate in Google Symposium
On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, the Honors Video Production and Broadcasting students had the opportunity to attend and help video for the “Google Superintendent & Curriculum Leadership Symposium” for our region. The symposium was held at The Technology Services Center on Brewer Drive in Monroe.
The purpose of the symposium was to provide information to other North Carolina School Districts who wish to implement a 1:1 Chromebook initiative in their schools similar to that here at UCPS. Breakout sessions were presented by UCPS Administration, UCPS Principals, UCPS Technology Services Staff, UCPS Board of Education Members and students.
The MHS Students assisted Technology Services and the Communications office by shooting video and offering technical assistance in each of the breakout sessions. Students were able to gain valuable hands-on and real world experience in addition to learning about the extended plans for expansion of technology in our school system.
Dr. Mary Ellis welcomed the students and thanked them for their participation in the event. She informed the participants that classes like Broadcasting and Video Production were a direct result of this expansion of technology and the county's ability to add classes that students wanted as a part of their high school career.
