Western Union Students "On the Ball"
Excerpts from Ms. Bostwick’s submission to Donors Chose:
"Everyone stand up and get ready to learn!" Amid the blank stares and empty responses from my students, I resort to what I know will get my students back on track, a little movement and cross-body stretching. Though a good break from class, imagine the time and learning lost between stretch breaks.
I am blessed with four small classes of academically gifted learners to whom I teach reading and math. These precocious and adventurous groups of 4th and 5th graders are like sponges, absorbing everything that goes on in and out of the classroom. My students are eager to learn and want to do the best they can in all they do. At our school the goal is to give your best and nothing less!
My wish with this project is to help my students stay engaged in their learning. I want to reach all my learners who need the added benefit of movement to help keep their focus, strengthen their learning, improve their memory, and motivation. The additional bonus would be that the balance ball chairs would provide my students with the opportunity to strengthen their core as they engage their minds.
