5th graders learn about American Government
Weddington Elementary 5th graders are learning that “government is like a nation’s family” because it sets rules and takes care of needs such as education and health care.
The entire 5th grade student body will take a trip to North Carolina’s state capital – Raleigh on Friday, March 28th to tour and learn more about government, locally and nationally.
They will tour the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Legislative Building, and the Museum of Natural Sciences which is the largest museum of its kind in the Southeast. Through exhibits, programs and field experiences, Weddington 5th grader will have opportunities to get up close and personal with science and nature.
The purpose of their school trip is to enable them to understand, participate in and make informed decisions about their world. This experience will allow them to explain relationships with other people, to institutions, and to the environment, and equip them with knowledge and understanding of the past.
