UCEC Juniors Look at Medical Careers
On Friday, March 21st, Michelle Boyd from Charlotte Area Health Education Center visited UCEC’s Junior Seminar classes to talk about potential careers in the medical field. Ms. Boyd’s presentation proved to be quite insightful to our students in Junior Seminar (a weekly class created by the UCEC guidance department to educate juniors about life after high school and college). The presentation featured a PowerPoint as Ms. Boyd talked about her career as well as other careers in the medical field. To keep everyone engaged, she provided students with informational handouts, candy to students who answered questions, and a bingo game using glow sticks. Before concluding her presentation, she gave students information about a program called “Heroes” that one of our very own students, ‘Aja Crayton, participates in. “Heroes” is an enrichment program that exposes students to various careers in the medical field. The Junior Seminar students were grateful for Ms. Boyd’s visit to our school with her enthusiastic attitude and wealth of information regarding careers in medicine.
