Union County Public Schools will be hosting its second Annual UCPS Golf Tournament, held this year at Monroe Country Club on Monday, May 19, 2014.

The tournament will benefit the Union County Education Foundation. Last year, an impressive 176 golfers participated in the tournament, which was also held in May.

Thanks to the efforts of local golfers, the Union County Education Foundation raised $18,366 for Union County Public School student scholarships.

Organizers said local golfers, schools, booster clubs, PTO/PTAs and business sponsors helped to make the tournament a winning event.

Created in 2011, the Union County Education Foundation is a separate, independent, community based, non-profit organization dedicated to raising needed funding for Union County Public Schools.

Governed by volunteer community leaders who are dedicated to supporting a school system of excellence, the Union County Education Foundation provides schools and teachers with the needed funding for technological advancements, classroom enhancements and new and proven educational programs.

Teachers and students benefit directly from the Education Foundation’s various initiatives, including the mini-grants for teachers/classrooms, scholarships for students, and the BizEd programs.

Schools, families and community members are invited to support this fundraiser. Interested individuals can show their support by registering to sponsor a hole ($100) or registering a foursome to play ($400.)

All proceeds will go directly to the Union County Education Foundation, which supports all UCPS elementary, middle and high school students and teachers.

This year’s golf tournament will be Captain’s Choice. The cost to play is $400 per foursome, which includes meals, as applicable, entry fees, cart fees, mulligans, raffle tickets and prizes.

There will be two flights available for registration. The morning flight (8:00 a.m.) will include breakfast and lunch. The afternoon flight (1:30 p.m.) will include lunch which will be served 12:00 – 1:30.
