Meteorologist John Ahrens Visits 5th Graders at Shiloh Elementary

On Monday, April 21, 2014, Meteorologist John Ahrens, from WSOC Channel 9 Eyewitness News, visited 5th Grade Students at Shiloh Elementary School. The Fifth Graders are starting the Weather Unit in Science, so the presentation gave them a head start. “I liked the presentation, and it was very interesting and very amusing,” said Krista Mannarino. Mr. Ahrens did use his sense of humor while explaining weather terms and concepts. He jokingly said, “They call me a meteorologist, but I’ve never seen a meteor in my life!” He also gave tips on how to stay safe during storms and shared experiences in his job as a meteorologist. “What really made it funny was that he kept things livened up by telling many weather jokes,” said River Hove. Shiloh’s 5th Graders really enjoyed his visit and even the teachers were greatly amused.
