Kindergarten Community Helpers Unit Week
Weddington Elementary kindergartners started their study about community helpers during the past few weeks. They first learned what a community is and then identified some of the key helpers within the community of Monroe. They identified different community helpers and some characteristics of their jobs.
In addition to learning about the people themselves, the children also learned about the tools required to do each job. The study of their community helpers included bus drivers, principals, fire fighters, and police officers. Kindergartners discussed the similarities and differences of jobs around the world. They explored and learn about their parents’ jobs in the community and how important community helpers are in their community.
To conclude the unit, the kindergarten classes met many community helpers on a field trip to Downtown Monroe.
We are thankful for all those that daily help us out in our very own communities.
