WUES Participates in Jump Rope for Heart
This past February at Western Union, we as a school partnered up with the American Heart Association to try and raise money for people with heart disease. The students rose to the occasion with the help of family and friends to come together to raise $530.41. That is a great accomplishment for our school increasing the donation total from last year to this year.
We started the campaign for Jump Rope for Heart as soon as we returned from Christmas Break in January. The students were given a month to reach out to family members and close friends for donations. Each student did a great job in getting the word out to the community and really worked hard raising the money and I am very proud of every student. 4th grade students even made posters to put up in the gym to help promote the event at school. At the end of the month when the money was due and each class had their Jump Rope for Heart Event. During the event they did not stop jumping. From hop scotch, to short jump ropes, to long jump ropes, to Hippity Hops. They had a blast doing the different stations of jumping while increasing their heart rate and getting their exercise in for the day.
Jump Rope for Heart is a great organization that does many great things in the lives of others and I am glad we get to be a part of that every year. We may never know exactly who we may have impacted by raising this money but we do know that we are making a difference. I am very proud of my students here and what they accomplished this year. We were able to work hard to help others while having a lot of fun along the way.
