CATA Shows Top Skills at SkillsUSA Automotive Competition
The Transportation Academy attended the State SkillsUSA conference April 9-11, 2014. Students competed in Automotive Service Technology, Automotive Refinishing Technology, and Collision Repair Technology competitions.
In the Automotive Service Technology competition Zane Smith won first place and Jordan Hanson finished fourth. In the Automotive Refinishing Technology competition Pedro Franco won first place and Jacob Fay finished fourth.
In the Collision Repair Technology competition Caleb Hartis finished third, Daniel Donaldson finished fourth, and Wyatt Housman finished fifth. Together they received $30,000 dollars in scholarship money.
Zane Smith and Pedro Franco will go on to complete in the SkillsUSA Nation competition in Kansas City in June. Central Academy of Technology and Arts is very proud of the hard work of our Transportation Academy students in preparing for this state event.
Transportation teachers, Mr. Roger Pressley, Mr. Terry Lindley, and Mr. Doug Mayhew do a fantastic job of producing top notch students in the automotive field that are competitive at the state and national level! Way to go Cougars!!
