Porter Ridge Fourth Graders Participate in Mayor's Tree Initiative Program

Photos of fourth graders with their newly planted trees.

Students at Porter Ridge Elementary School participated in the Mayor's Tree Initiative program during the month of April. The Mayor of Indian Trail, Michael Alvarez, has a goal of helping to protect the environment and save our natural resources. The fourth grade students were taught about how trees are important in the environment as well as how to plant a tree of their own.
Mayor Alvarez helped plant two trees on our school campus and each student was sent home with a seedling to plant in their yard. Our Fourth Grade teachers: Mrs. Amy Morris, Mrs. Michele Turner, Mrs. Anye Propst, and Mrs. Cassie Little help support the Mayor’s Initiative and post photos in the main hallway at the school of their students with their newly planted trees.
