Fairview Elementary second annual Boosterthon is a HUGE success
Fairview Elementary’s second annual Boosterthon Fun Run was a huge success!
This fundraiser to benefit the school is so much more than just a run. The fundraiser is kicked off with a pep rally where every student receives a custom Fairview/Boosterthon team jersey sponsored by Robinson Orthodontics.
The Boosterthon team spend the next two weeks at the school leading students in character building lessons that culminated with the fun run experience.
This year’s theme was Camp High Five- an anti-bullying campaign that promotes building friendships by respecting others, shouting out strengths, showing sportsmanship, not bullying, and sticking together.
Students and teachers joined in daily team huddles where they learned about each character lesson, participated in group fitness activities, and received prizes for the pledges they gathered from family, friends, and neighbors.
Pledges could be per lap or flat donations and the school set a goal of $17,000 that will be used for playground improvements.
In addition to helping the school, students helped to provide 230 meals to local families in need through Boosterthon’s partnership with Feeding America.
Then family and friends were invited to the school gym on April 9 to cheer on students as they ran the speedway with a goal of 35 laps.
Fun was the main focus as the music blasted and students ran, skipped, danced, and limbo’d around the track.
Laps were marked off on the back of each shirt and totaled at the end of the run. There were lots of shirts with 35 marks.
Event organizers said they were very proud of the Fairview students. They also thanked the teachers and staff for their help, the parents and family members who supported our runners, and everyone who sponsored the students.
