Film Production Students Receive Honors
Kara Adcock, a senior in Mrs. Medlin’s Honors Film Production II class recently won 2nd place in the Carowinds Student Marketing Day Video Contest. Students were given raw footage about a new program called Grad Fest that Carowinds will be holding for high school seniors. Students had to take the raw footage and edit it into a professionally finished public service announcement. Kara was able to include a voice-over and motion graphics to give her project extra flair. Her video was actually tied for first and Carowinds had to bring in a tie-breaker! Her video was shown to all attendees at Carowinds’ Annual Marketing Day for students.
Another Honors Film student, Marianna Norwood, recently found out that her submission to the International Youth Silent Film Festival was chosen as one of 46 Pacific Northwest finalists. Her video will be showcased from May 19-21, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m, at the Hollywood Theater in Portland OR. The IYSFF allows students to film and edit original silent film projects and submit them for contest review. Marianna’s video was entitled “The Nightmare”.
