BHESA+ Receives Inspiring Others Community Award

Benton Heights Elementary School of the Arts was the proud recipient of an Inspiring Others Community Award on Thursday May 29, 2014. The donation was given by JoAnn Fabric and Craft stores in Monroe. Mr. Frank Casstevens, Arts Coordinator at BHESA was contacted about the award recently and was present at the Grand Opening ceremonies to receive a check for $2,000.00. The monies will go to support the various arts programs of the school that will reach all students at BHESA for the academic year 2014-2015.

Mr. Casstevens expressed to the crowd and press at this ceremony his appreciation on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of BHESA to the company for having a vision to support the local students. He stated that BHESA will greatly benefit from having this store in close proximity as they have many needs in fabrics, material and other arts related notions. He stated the school hopes to make JoAnn’s a strong part of their network by providing classes and workshops to their students in the future. JoAnn’s will be a perfect fit for our A+ school as we strive to integrate arts throughout our campus.

The check was presented by the district manager, Mr. Brian Duffy from Asheville, N.C. who is over all North and South Carolina stores. JoAnn’s is the largest national retailer of fabrics, crafts, sewing, home décor items, frames, paper crafting, artificial floral and home accents with over 800 stores in 49 states. Their corporate office is located in Hudson, Ohio. BHESA Tigers welcome JoAnn’s to our business community and thanks them for supporting our school and the arts.
