Ed Foundation's annual 5-K 'Run for the U' to be held in one week

More than 700 runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators gathered in historic downtown Monroe last year to show their support for Union County teachers by participating in the Education Foundation's 5K 'Run for the U.'This year's event will be held June 7, 2014.

The second annual 5-K Run for U is one week away!

Come out and join runners and walkers from around the county on Saturday, June 7 at 8 am to support students and encourage educators by participating in the Union County Education Foundation’s 5K. 

The course winds through beautiful Downtown Monroe and you’ll be cheered on by members at First Baptist Church in Monroe, greeted with free water at the end courtesy of Kona Ice, and served fruit by the creative chefs at Kate Clyde’s. 

This year’s runner goody bags will be filled with items and coupons from Bonfire Grill, Flying Biscuit, Razzano Chiropractic, and many more.

The June 1, 2013 event raised more than $17,000, all of which went into the classrooms of Union County Public School teachers via mini-grants administered by the Union County Education Foundation.
