UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- It may seem early, but some kids are already back in class.
In Union county, students at four schools went back to work Monday because they're year-rounders.
In Mrs. Hea's second grade class, it looks and sounds a lot like she and the kids have been together for a while. In fact, this is their first day back to school.
"Our children do not have that long huge summer, so they don't have as long to regress. They've actually just popped back in to all procedures today very quickly," Stacey Hea said.
Shiloh Elementary in Union County is one of four year-round schools that just started back after an eight-week extended summer break.
Principal Scott Spencer says, "At the year-round school, when the students come back, they jump right back into the routines. There's much less of a buildup for that first day, and as noticed here today, everyone gets right back into the swing of things."
