Panthers Preparing for Another Great Year

It has been a busy summer at Piedmont High School in preparation for the 2014-2015 school year. When students return on August 25, they will be greeted with new teachers, a new entrance, new building upgrades, and the long-awaited new stadium! There will be many activities in the coming weeks to prepare for the opening of school and one great way to stay updated is to Like the Piedmont High School Facebook page and follow Piedmont Athletics on Twitter.

The 2014 Panther athletic season is in full swing with many teams opening with their first games before the start of school. Football opens their season on Friday, August 22 at Hickory Ridge with their endowment game beginning at 7:30 pm. The boys soccer team is welcoming new coaches Travis Climbingbear and Tiphany Speck and they will open their season on August 19 at CATA, game time is 6 p.m. The ladies tennis team is also welcoming Mandy Smith as their new coach and they open their season at CATA on August 19 at 4:00 p.m. Volleyball will have several matches before school begins with their first home game being August 18 at 4:30 vs. West Stanly. Finally, the cross country team will compete on August 23 at 9:00 a.m. at the Providence Invite. Panther fans should also visit the Athletic website for information on purchasing season passes.

Academically, students should have received their schedules in the mail. Instructions for submitting course changes were included in the mailing and all requests for changes should be made online this year. The link to the request form can be found by clicking here. All schedule changes need to be submitted by August 17th. Students should contact the Guidance Office with questions. Purchasing parking passes is always a much anticipated event each summer and the schedule for purchasing has been released. Complete parking information and downloadable forms are available under Students on the Piedmont website. Seniors should mark their calendars for August 19 from 2-4 and Juniors should note August 20 from 2-4 as their designated dates to purchase parking tags. A reminder that all fines must be cleared with Mrs. Thomas prior to purchasing a parking tag and students must be in good academic standing. Please contact Mrs. Starr with questions about parking

Piedmont will be hosting an Open House and Freshmen Orientation on Friday, August 22. Freshmen should plan to attend orientation from 2-3 on August 22 and then students in grades 10-12 are invited to attend an Open House to meet their teachers from 3-4. We look forward to another great year in 2014-15 at Piedmont High School!
