Piedmont Schools Face New Traffic Patterns
The Piedmont Middle and High Schools faced a much needed change in the traffic patterns near the schools with the opening of the “Five Points” roundabout on August 24th, 2014 as well as new parking lot procedures as recommended by the NC Department of transportation. Currently, the expectation is for drivers to remain in their cars at all times when using the carpool, and stack into “ferry” style lines to pull congestion off of Sikes-Mill Rd. during peak afternoon times. Parents and visitors may use the left turn/access lane near “Old Blue”, our beloved truck, to park in front of the school in visitor spaces and sign out students prior to 2:45. (As in the past, students may NOT be signed out after 2:45 daily.) The school, NCDOT and local law enforcement intend to observe our current plans for any needed changes after the first ten days of school. We thank you in advance for your adherence to the current prescribed pattern, and your patience with the process.
