Career Day comes to Wingate Elementary

Wingate Elementary students had a first-hand look at various careers in Union County during the school’s recent Career Day.

A variety of careers were showcased for students, beginning with the very young. Students in Pre-K and kindergarten heard Union County Sheriff’s Officer Mitch Presslar talk about “Bear,” the sheriff’s rescue dog during this mid March event.

First and second graders viewed the “Health Career Puppet Bunch” presented by Michelle Boyd, while third through fifth graders were afforded the opportunity to listen to 18 speakers from a variety of career fields.

Careers discussed ran the gamut, from trauma center nurses, to a look at Fire Service with local firefighter Blair Stegall.
