CHS SAVE Club Awarded Grants
National SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) is excited to announce that the CHS SAVE chapter has been awarded Teen Safe Driving Grants from The Allstate Foundation to conduct school safety and teen safe driving activities in North Carolina and Mississippi during the 2014-2015 school year. There are a limited number of grants available in each state. For the fifth consecutive year, CHS has been awarded this grant. The money will be used to fund club activities including safe driving initiatives, community service opportunities, and school wide guest speakers.
"I am so proud of my kids. The SAVE club has truly made a difference in our community and in my life both professionally and personally. The Allstate grant has made so many activities possible that we would never otherwise be able to afford," said CHS SAVE adviser Leah Ross.
According to Ross, the CHS SAVE Club has many goals for this year; increasing hands-on work with Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter, adding LGBT initiatives, attending the National SAVE Summit en masse in March, holding a SAVE in-gathering and training meeting for UCPS schools interested in starting chapters, and building an on-going partnership with the SAVE chapter in Sierra Leone.
