5th Graders Attend Math Boot Camp
Additionally, students learned to use model drawing to solve word problems. Instead of trying to picture the problem in their heads, then writing out the equation to solve it, students learned how to diagram the elements of the word problem. Students also learned about number bonds and how they can be used to solve addition, measurement, and faction problems. Through the success of the camp, students will start the year confident and excited about math. In addition, many developed friendships they plan to continue in either their new school or new class.
