Battle of the Books Competition is here!!
“Students, regardless of ability, are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors in the area of young adult literature. The game format creates interest and excitement in reading. Through the fun and excitement of the competition, students improve reading skills, mature in their choices of reading materials, and acquire a broader knowledge base. Even during the height of the competition, students and coaches should remember that the goal is to READ, not necessarily to win!” North Carolina School Library Media Association
The challenge will be to read eighteen books as determined by the NCSLMA by April 2015. During club meetings at school, we will be practicing writing and answering competition questions. The books will be provided by our Media Center and specific reading goals will be set to ensure all students are well prepared for the competition in May.
Permission forms to participate in WDES Battle of the Books club will be coming home soon. We are in need of volunteer coaches to help. If interested please contact me at email@example.com
