PR Varsity Men’s Soccer making strides towards record season

The Porter Ridge Men’s Varsity Soccer Team is off to a strong start, currently 12-1-1 overall and 5-1 in conference with big wins over Marvin Ridge and Myers Park. The Pirates hope to keep the momentum alive with their current 4 game win streak.

Senior Captain Jonathan Kraft commented on how the season has gone so far, “Nobody expected much from us this season, but as the season has gone by, we proved them wrong.” The team has continued to surprise with 12 wins and only one loss, which was to Garinger, and one tie to Ardrey Kell.

Head Coach Ron Ladimir said, “The team is coming together quite well, working hard every day, looking to continue to improve throughout conference play.” Currently ranked number two in the 4A Southwestern Conference. With only 8 goals allowed this season defense is really shutting down the other teams. While offense has put up 58 goals and a win percentage of 89%.

The team is also working towards setting a new school record. The current record was set in 2006 by the Men’s Varsity team who ended their season with a record of 15-0-3.The Pirates are scheduled to take on conference rivals Independence at home on Monday, October 6th. The Junior Varsity game will begin at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity kick-off will be at 6:30 p.m. Porter Ridge supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer them on.  Click here for their Fall 2014 Schedule.
