Matthew Lowery is Named Student of the Month
Congratulations to Matthew Lowery, who was selected as Piedmont’s Student of the Month for September. Dr. Tyson instituted the Student of the Month this year to recognize students who have made significant improvement and who work hard in the classroom on a daily basis. According to Lowery, “I am honored to receive this award as I have worked really hard this year to do my best in school.”
Matthew is a sophomore and enjoys being a member of the Public Safety Academy and the Air Force ROTC. In ROTC, he serves on the color guard and will be presenting sabres for Friday’s Homecoming game vs. CATA. According to Chief Dwight Holmes, instructor in the Piedmont AFROTC program, “Cadet Matthew Lowery is a conscientious and dedicated Air Force Junior ROTC cadet who consistently gives his best effort at every task provided him. Cadet Lowery's discipline and military bearing are top-notch and he works hard each and every day to improve in areas that may need attention.” In the Public Safety Academy, Lowery is a captain, which is the next highest rank in the class. As captain, he assumes the responsibility for handling various issues with his fellow cadets and serves as a leader in physical training and skill development.
Matthew received a Piedmont Principal’s Medallion for being selected as the Student of the Month. Outside of school, Matthew enjoys biking, swimming, hunting, and working with technology. Congratulations to Matthew on being selected as the Student of the Month for September 2014.
