Hugo Comes for a Visit!

On September 18, the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets’ very own mascot, Hugo, came to Shiloh for a visit.

On September 18, the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets’ very own mascot, Hugo, came to Shiloh for a visit. This year, Hugo is starting his own “Reading Revolution” for elementary school students! Hugo came to Shiloh to talk about why reading is important and gave four reading tips.
1. Make reading a daily habit.
2. Find a good reading spot.
3. Look to your teachers as reading models
4. Steal time to read.

Each time Hugo had an opportunity to call on someone, he gave them an autographed Hugo card! Also, each teacher picked one student from their class to go on the Hornets’ Book Bus and pick out one book to keep...forever! One student, Brooke Eberhart, said: “I thought that it was so cool that we were the first ones to see Air Hugo!” Another student, Chris Austria, said: “ I had lots of fun when Hugo came. I also liked his Reading Revolution.” We owe thanks to Mrs. Barrows for inviting Hugo so he could spread his Reading Revolution. Thank you, Mrs.Barrows!!
