Walter Bickett Elementary Hosts “Parenting With a Purpose" Classes
UCPS Latino Outreach Services in partnership with Health Promotions- Union County Division of Public Health offered parenting classes at Walter Bickett Elementary School each Thursday during the month of September.
The focus of the workshops was to create happy and healthy homes. Topics for the sessions included poison prevention, nutrition and fitness, dental health, what to do when your child gets sick, effective discipline, and alcohol and drug free homes.
Sessions were also offered in gun safety and fire safety. These sessions were provided by the Union County Sheriff's Department and the City of Monroe Fire Department.
Participants in the classes paid a one- time registration fee of $5.00 and certificates of attendance were awarded upon the completion of the course.
