CMS Visits and Discusses our Technology Infrastructure

Juniper representatives work alongside Casey Powell and Steve Dugan, two UCPS Network Engineers.

Several employees of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ Information Systems and Support Department met with our networking and engineering teams at Technology Services, October 9th, to discuss specific aspects of our infrastructure; CMS was highly interested in our work and implementation with Juniper Networks and wanted to hear our story.

Speaking amongst colleagues in an informal setting, UCPS employees encouraged and answered questions from Brandon Deleeuw, Director of IS&S, and his team with regards to the effectiveness and cost efficiency of the Juniper products we use within our district.

Deleeuw informed the panel that CMS will be opening 4 new schools and launching 12 new programs within their district and were curious if Juniper would be a viable option for their new startup. Additionally, he and his team shared their concerns about cost and hardware support with their current systems and those going forward.

Steve Dugan, UCPS Senior Networking Engineer, and Tony Burrus, CTO, agreed that Juniper is very effective in the training they provide and offer quick response times when requesting remote or on-site support. “Juniper is easy to learn and it is enjoyable working with them,” said Dugan.

At the conclusion of the informal Q & A panel, Juniper representatives met with CMS guests to further discuss their products and effectiveness in our district.
