Kindergarten Gets A Little Wild
“Let the Wild Rumpus Start!” The kindergarteners at Western Union dressed up today in their pajamas and wore masks they decorated themselves.
They were acting out the wild rumpus from Maurice Sendak’s book, Where the Wild Things Are. The students marched around the parking lot and some played instruments.
They all sang “If You’re a Wild Thing and You Know It,” and “Horns and Fangs, Knees and Claws.” All students practiced roaring their terrible roars, gnashing their terrible teeth, rolling their terrible eyes, and showing their terrible claws.
The wild rumpus parade continued through the office and down the hall back to their classrooms. The students were able to combine literacy, art and creativity, and music all while getting a little wild on a fun October day.
