Book Fair a HUGE success
There are several weeks that students and staff at Parkwood Middle School both look forward to every year: Winter Break, Spring Break, and Book Fair Week!
The Scholastic Book Fair came to Parkwood recently and was a huge success. Students and faculty browsed the book fair, looking for adventures, ideas, and new knowledge in the pages of the many books. In addition to a wide variety of literature, there were plenty of fun new school supplies available for purchase.
A Dress Down Day competition was once again held in conjunction with the Book Fair. Students had the opportunity to put their spare change in jars for their grade level. Thank you everyone who donated change for the purchase of library books and new equipment for the production news room. The grade level with the most money was 6th grade. The 6th graders enjoyed their dress down day last Friday.
The first book fair of the year was an enormous success! The book fair raised over $1500. Much of the success is owed to the business done during Parkwood Middle School’s Curriculum Nights. Dedicated to the success of the Book Fair, Ms. Lisa Chapman (Media Coordinator) and Ms. Kelly King (Media Assistant) kept the book fair open each curriculum night in order to allow those parents attending to shop the Book Fair. Their willingness to donate their time, the generosity of our parents, and the dedication of our students to reading all led to a successful book fair. The book fair will return in February. We hope the next one is just as successful as this one was.
