8th Grade Art Students Take on the Mint
On Friday, Oct. 24th, 2014, Mrs. Durbin and Mr. Kendrick took 8th grade year long art classes on their annual field to the Mint Museum-Uptown Charlotte.
Students enjoyed a day of viewing famous and amazing works of art on display during their guided gallery tours led by museum directors and docents. Afterwards students enjoyed lunch outdoors in beautiful uptown Charlotte.
8th grade art student Eli Pittman said he enjoyed the hand blown glass sculptures the most created by Dale Chihuly. Payton Mills said the large pottery and 3-D ceramic vases caught her eye the strongest.
“I really loved the hand woven rugs, they were so intricate and detailed, I wondered how long they actually took to make,” said Brooke Herrin. Abby Johnson noted that “the trip inspired her to realize that art can be anything real or imagined, a flat painting on a wall or a magnificent sculpture hanging from the ceiling!”
Mrs. Durbin and Mr. Kendrick would like to thank PRMS administration and all the parent chaperones that attended as well. We appreciate so much all of their help in creating a wonderful art experience for our students. A great day was had by all!
