Xcel 2 Fitness
On a crisp fall morning third through fifth grade boys across Union County and Charlotte prepared for their Xcel 2 Fitness Big Event. The Big Event was held at Indian Trail Elementary School with 19 schools from Union County Public Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools competing.
With their teammates, the boys went through an awesome obstacle course twice. The first time through the course their goal was to be a team player as they worked together to dominate the obstacle course. The second time through the boys knew what to expect and their goal was to beat the time of their first round. All 19 teams competing were faster their second time through the course! The boys from Prospect were timed at 7:48 minutes the first time. The second time, they were timed at 6:36 minutes!
The founder of Xcel 2 Fitness, Stephen Vaughn, spoke to the athletes, coaches and parents at the end of the event and encouraged them with the following quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. “If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
Xcel 2 Fitness is not about who wins but about being greater: being a greater athlete, son, and student.
The boys who participated in Xcel 2 Fitness at Prospect have strengthened their character and been encouraged to develop their dreams over the last six weeks as they participated in the after-school fitness sessions.
