Jan Kerley, Porter Ridge High Art Teacher, was honored to be announced the Porter Ridge High School Teacher of The Year for the 2014-2015 school year! Kerley has been teaching at Porter Ridge High since it opened in 2005. Before working here, she worked at Piedmont Middle where she also taught art.

Kerley is a teacher who is also involved in extra curricular activities such as being the Prom sponsor, co-sponsoring the National Art Honor Society with Nicole Crowley and coordinating and planning several art shows at PRHS at the end of each semester to showcase student art work.

She enjoys working with students and loves to help them express themselves through art. When asked about why she likes teaching she said, “I enjoy working with the students. Even though I have high expectations, I like using humor and fun to inspire and motivate my students. I push and guide them to learn and to create and produce the best art possible.”

In response to receiving this award Kerley said, “It is an honor to represent Porter Ridge High School as Teacher of the Year. I teach with a staff of outstanding educators and administrators, so to be nominated by top notch people is a compliment to me and my years of teaching. Thank You!”
