Holidays Around the World with Kindergarten

Trees displaying crafts from 'Around the World' visits

In Kindergarten we are celebrating “Holidays Around the World” during the month of December. Each child has received their very own passport to track which countries they have been too this month. Every day the children “fly” to a new country to learn about their holiday customs and traditions. After learning about the country they participate in a hands on activity to reinforce their understanding of that country.

The countries we have visited are:

Germany- Christmas trees (the Germans were the first to bring live trees inside)
Norway-Traditional Woven Heart Basket Ornament
Israel- Star of David ornaments (Hanukkah)
Scotland- “Father Christmas” craft
Mexico- Poinsettia craft

Russia- Snow Maiden tree topper
France- Traditional Yule Log
Holland- Wooden Shoes to leave out for Sinterklaas
China- Paper Lanterns
England- Stockings, caroling, and Christmas cards

We are having so much fun learning about how other children around the world celebrate this exciting season!
