Third Grade Students Study African Art
Third graders at Hemby Bridge are learning about a variety of African art techniques. In their most recent project, they studied the history and culture of the Asante’ People of Ghana, and learned about the process of creating Adinkra cloth, for which this culture is known. The students then made samples showing traditional Adinkra cloth symbols. The patterns they created were made using a relief printing technique. Examples of the students’ work can be seen on display in our building, as well as in our online gallery at www.artsonia.com.
