New Salem Elementary's AIG class sponsored our first Gingerbread Competition to raise money for our Angel Tree, kick off the holiday season, and create wonderful memories with our families. All angel gifts have been purchased from the tree, and a total of $307.00 cash was raised. Thank you for being a part of our efforts to support New Salem families at Christmas time!
For a sweet treat, come tour our media center and see the amazing display of our Gingerbread Competition entries. The gingerbread contest was judged in five categories: Overall Appearance, Originality/Creativity, Difficulty, Precision, and Consistency of Theme. Entries were primarily made of gingerbread or graham crackers for the main structure. All components, except for the base, had to be edible.

Judges spent several hours evaluating each of the sweet sculptures. Winners include:

1st Place - Emma Kafitz
2nd Place - Waylan Laney
3rd Place - Brock and Brody Owens

Honorable Mention:
Kate Kafitz
Graydon and Griffin Austin
Sydney Wingo and Cayden Bell
Kayla Stewart
