Jordan Marmara, 8th grade science teacher chosen Teacher of the Year
Mr. Jordan Marmara, 8th Grade Science Teacher, has been named Parkwood Middle School’s Teacher of the year. Teacher of the year nominees are first voted on by the staff and are then observed by a panel of judges. Finally, after an interview process the Teacher of the Year is chosen.
This is Mr. Marmara’s seventh year teaching 8th Grade Science at Parkwood Middle School. He is originally from Long Island, New York where he graduated from C.W. Post, Long Island University. His major was Biology Education, but ever since he student taught in an 8th grade classroom he knew he wanted to teach Middle School. “I really like how excited middle school students get over learning new concepts and doing labs,” Mr. Marmara said. “It makes teaching science fun and interesting.”
Outside of the classroom Mr. Marmara is the sponsor of PWMS Student Council. He is also Science Department Chairperson and one of the teachers who helps to organize the PWMS Science Fair each year. He is the stage manager for the theatrical productions and assists with the globalization committee.
Parkwood Middle School is grateful to have a teacher who is not only dedicated to instructing students in the classroom, but contributing to the school as a whole. Congratulations Mr. Marmara!
