Our Community is Amazing!
The Marvin community has once again been truly amazing in supporting our efforts to help The Union County Christmas Bureau. Our school adopted 20 children, as well as ran a toy drive from 12/1-12/10. The children we adopted ranged in age from 6 months to 14 years old. The response was truly wonderful! We received everything from clothes, diapers, toys, jewelry, books, 7 bikes and everything in between.
This was a huge effort that wouldn't have happened without the help of room parents. Everyone quickly responded and was willing to help coordinate a sign up genius for their class. After that the gifts came pouring in. Susan Walsh, a parent, was an enormous help. She volunteered her time to help organize and deliver everything to the Christmas Bureau.
I also want to recognize Gloria Haney. She is the volunteer coordinator for The Union County Department of Social Services and is the one that runs the Christmas Bureau. When we delivered she reported that they are helping 1,800 families in Union County this year, which includes about 4,000 children.
