A Visit from Author and Illustrator Jonathan D. Miller
Author and illustrator Jonathan D. Miller visited Prospect to teach the students how he creates the books in his series “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund”.
Mr. Miller explained that he uses construction paper and a marker to create the pictures in his books and the stories come from his imagination. After reading his book “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund: Sammy in Space”, Mr. Miller answered questions from the audience. The question that was asked the most was “how long did it take you to finish the book?” Mr. Miller said it takes him about 90 days to finish one book. However, those 90 days are spread out over a year and a half to allow him the flexibility to travel to promote his books.
Mr. Miller’s newest book “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund: A History of Wonder Dachshunds” came out the day he was at Prospect! In addition to the first book, he read this brand new book to the students.
Mr. Miller closed the presentation by asking students which book they liked the best out of the two he read and a majority of them answered that they liked “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund: A History of Wonder Dachshund” the best.
