CHS clubs, students, staff, and community took part in many opportunities this holiday season to reach out to assist various organizations. Among them were the Union County Christmas Bureau, Toys for Tots, Samaritan’s Feet, and Eyesee – Vision for the World.

The Interact Club sponsored an eyeglasses drive to support Eyesee - Vision for the World. Used or new reading glasses, prescription glasses, and accessories were collected.

Interact Club President Lianna Kostak said, “This past summer I started my own chapter of glasses collection with the student-run program eyeseemission. They are paired with other organizations like Physicians for Peace and Eyecare Wecare who go abroad every summer to deliver the glasses to third world countries like Haiti and Honduras, etc. We can send the glasses to the eyeseemission base in Illinois, which will distribute them to their partners that go on overseas mission trips.”

Many CHS clubs purchased gifts for the Union County Christmas Bureau gift tree that was sponsored by the CHS chapter of SAVE Club. In addition to clubs, students, teachers, and community members also contributed gifts resulting in hundreds of donations of clothing items, toys, and even bicycles. In addition to the gift donations, the CHS Student Council held a coat drive to assist the Union County Christmas Bureau.

FCA sponsored Samaritan’s Feet to raise money for shoes for children in other countries who have never owned a pair. The highlight of this event featured a basketball game vs. Parkwood High on December 12. Coaches from both schools coached in bare feet during the game to raise awareness and footprints were sold to raise money. The FCA Club goal is to reach $1000 which would provide 100 pairs of shoes.
