CATA NHS Organizes PJ and Book Drive
National Honor Society members were looking for a service project to complete this fall and Co-Advisor Mrs. Lori Janicki learned about the Pajama Program which collects donations of new books and pajamas for needy children.
CATA’s NHS students created posters to advertise the contest and boxes were placed in classrooms for collection during fourth block classes. Mrs. Janicki’s children even created a video commercial to help advertise the drive!
The class who collected the most pajamas would win an ice cream party and the class that brought in the most books would win a milk and cookie party. Dr. Adam Tarlton’s class collected the most pajamas, 46 sets, and the most books, 86. The entire school collected 140 sets of pajamas and 272 books!
On December 17th, Melissa Hall, NC Chapter President of the Pajama Program came to CATA and collected all of our donations. The books and pajamas were given out at an event that Kids First of the Carolinas held the weekend of December 20th.
Thanks to everyone who donated books and pajamas to help children in our area! We feel the program was a great success and hope to participate in other programs like this in the future.
