Waxhaw second graders travel the world to learn customs and traditions
Students around Waxhaw prepared for the our recent holidays in many special ways. The school was “a buzz” with excitement! In Mrs. Stephenson’s second grade class students put an especially global spin on things and spent weeks traveling the world learning about winter celebrations in different countries as well as the United States. Students traveled to Mexico, Scandinavia, France, Italy, Africa, Germany and Australia. Students were surprised to learn that many of these countries customs and traditions have become American customs and traditions. The weeks of learning culminated with a celebration presentation for the parents where students presented their learning journals and several songs they had learned.
