Waxhaw first graders learn about geometry in unique ways

Mrs. Jukoski's first graders are all smiles as they use food to learn the basics of geometry.

Mrs. Jukoski’s first grade class has been learning about geometry. We can recognize shapes, make shapes on geoboards, partition shapes into halves and fourths, and create new designs from different shapes.

A few of the activities we have done are robot fractions, pizza fractions, divide M&M’s equally to share, and snackin’ on halves and fourths.

The students have had such a good time with the activities. They love working in cooperative groups to discuss their learning. They really enjoyed eating the goodies!
