Union County Board of Education seeks applicants for District 6 seat

Board of Education members will vote on the new member for District 6 at the March Board of Education meeting.

The Union County Board of Education is seeking candidates to fill the seat for District 6. Former District 6 representative Marce Savage resigned from her position on the Board of Education effective January 31.

Pursuant to Board of Education policy, vacancies during the term of office shall be filled by appointment by the remaining members. The appointed member shall serve until the next election at which time the remaining unexpired term shall be filled.

The Board of Education has asked interested persons to submit a letter of interest and a resume containing information including name, address, prior community involvement and why the individual is interested in serving on the Board of Education. Applicants must reside in District 6.

Letters of interest and required information are due by February 13, 2015 at 5 p.m. All information should be submitted to Donna Mullarkey at donna.mullarkey@ucps.k12.nc.us or at the UCPS Central Services Office, located at 400 N. Church St. in Monroe.

The Board of Education’s Strategic Planning and Technology Committee will review the submissions and then schedule interviews as deemed appropriate by that committee. Board of Education members will vote on the new member for District 6 at the March Board of Education meeting.
