Elwoods Barbecue & Burger Bar partners with MRMS

The local Elwoods BBQ in Charlotte is partnering with MRMS to provide Elwood Cash to the school.

Elwoods Barbecue & Burger Bar has partnered with the Morrison YMCA and two local schools, Ardrey Kell High School and Marvin Ridge Middle School to donate $30,000 worth of Elwoods Cash ($10,000 worth to each organization) to volunteers and deserving students. Elwoods Cash will work just like money at the Ballantyne restaurant, which is known for its barbecue and handcrafted burgers.

Each organization has created their own program using Elwoods Cash to reflect their mission and the intention for the coupons.
· Morrison YMCA – Ten for Time
· Ardrey Kell High School – Knight Kash
· Marvin Ridge Middle School – C-A-R-E Cash

The Morrison YMCA will give out Elwoods Cash to volunteers who generously pledge thousands of hours of their time every year when they reach certain thresholds of hours volunteered. The two schools will give out Elwoods Cash to students who go the extra mile in their studies and in their community. This is not a one-time donation. Elwoods wants this partnership to continue and has pledged to continue donations in the future to help the organizations recognize hard work and stewardship.

This is just the beginning. Elwoods is currently in talks with these and other organizations to create additional programs for the benefit of the community. “Building up a community is a group effort and it’s important to us to give back as much as we can,” says owner Jeremy Johnson. “If we can do something to make volunteers feel appreciated and for students to feel like their efforts have been noticed, we’re going to do it.”

"Ardrey Kell High School is very excited to have a new way to reward our students that really go the extra mile both in and out of the classroom, “ says Jennifer Schroeder, Assistant Principal of Ardrey Kell High School.

Principal of Marvin Ridge Middle School, Jay Jones, explains what the partnership means to him, "Our Marvin Ridge students are young people who have earned the opportunity to be recognized and commended for their commitment to excellence and high levels of achievement. We're very grateful to have Elwoods on board as a partner in our efforts to shine a positive light on some very deserving kids."

Curtis Cecil, the Morrison Family YMCA Volunteer Director and Alexa Hawkins, Community Relations Director express their feelings about the new program with Elwoods. “We are so proud of the work of our volunteers at the Morrison Family YMCA and are excited to have an opportunity to thank them for their hard work they do in our community.”
