3rd Annual Family Engagement Conference a Success!
Union County Public Schools AIG and Federal Programs held the 3rd Annual Family Engagement Conference on Saturday, February 21 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. The event was held at Monroe Middle School and offered free parent workshops, a children’s program, vendors and a complimentary lunch. This event was designed to help parents learn more about programs within Union County Public Schools and ways to help their child succeed.
Parents attended sessions led by UCPS teachers and staff members, as well as members of community organizations, on a variety of topics. Parents also heard from Mrs. Hilda Stevens from Successful Innovations, Inc., an experienced speaker on family engagement who spoke about “Parent Advocacy: Speaking up for Every Child.”
While parents were learning, children participated in fun activities including literacy, science, art, and health and fitness. The children’s program focused on activities related to heart health. They made get well cards for the Children's Clinic, participated in a variety of fun activities to learn more about the heart, and were involved in several activities sponsored by The American Heart Association.
The event ended with a complimentary lunch. Door prizes were given away, with family friendly games and activities provided as gifts.
