Two Warriors Complete CTE Internship

Lindsay Bowers (left) and Alli Lausch (right) share their internship experience.

Alli Lausch and Lindsay Bowers are two WHS students who have taken advantage of Union County Public School’s CTE Internship program this year. The goal of the Internship program is to prepare students for the 21st Century workplace. This program helps students connect classroom learning with career opportunities along with strengthening communication skills, encouraging personal growth, and developing ethical work habits.

These two young ladies were asked to share their work experience at the December meeting of the Union County JobReady Partnership. JobReady consists of a group of local business persons whose goal is to create stronger links between the business community and education. They both did an outstanding job sharing their internship experience with the group.

Alli Lausch shared  the following about her internship: “Before my internship, I was a little bit nervous about working and having a real job during, and after, college. This internship has totally changed that. I now feel like I have a good amount of experience in an office setting so that if I get an office job, I’ll feel more comfortable. I have also learned that you can find a job that you truly love and that sometimes, it’s the people that you work with that makes it enjoyable.  I know what it feels like to want to go into work and I know that that feeling will help guide me when deciding where I am going to make my career so that I will be happy. I am now more ready for the life and career ahead of me and I know that I will be fine.”

Lindsay Bowers completed an internship at Sun Valley High School working with the Agriculture teachers, Mr. Latta and Mr. Cochran.  Lindsay will attend NC State University in the fall and will major in Agriculture Education.  Lindsay said this experience gave her a chance to participate in classes not taught her at her school.  After completing the internship, Lindsay has a better idea of what she will be learning in college.

If you are a rising senior and have completed 2 or more CTE courses, an internship opportunity could be available for you.
